Change Over

Canol is changing to allow the media sector to have more of a say in how Welsh Assembly Government support is used.  The Assembly continues its commitment to driving forward the media sector in Mid Wales and believes that the network is the best way for the sector to share information and develop ideas and show best practice.

From the 1st April the current structure of Canol will cease and funding for the Mid Wales media sector will no longer be delivered by the Welsh Assembly Government through the services of a Programme Manager.  Instead Mid Wales media businesses will be able to come together as an entity and apply to the Assembly for funding to support their activities.  They will also be free to explore other sources of funding.

Individual business will continue to access advice and support from the Welsh Assembly Government’s Flexible Support for Business on a one to one basis and Creative Industry sector support will be available to advise networks.

The Canol network has nominated a Project Team, Jonathan Rubery and Aled Lloyd; they will be contacting the network after initial discussions as to the way forward.  The Canol Website will be handed over to the Project Team who aim to transform it into a living and well used site.
